State of the Classroom

I had planned on heading up to the school on Monday to tackle my classroom but couldn’t because I had site base training that I had forgotten about. My trip was moved to Tuesday. After my site base meeting on Tuesday my mom met me at my classroom and we started working on things. This is how my classroom looked when I arrived.

It actually wasn’t that bad! At the end of the school year teachers are responsible for labeling and moving all classroom furniture to the hallways (except for desks, filing cabinets, and our computer table). Usually we have to move most of it back into our rooms as well but the custodians this year (we have new ones) moved everything back in for us! We got the tables rearranged and things put back in some sort of order. I’ll post more pictures of my room once everything is finished.

My mom usually does my bulletin board for me and the one she did this year is so awesome! The purple bulletin board paper is such a pretty color! The owls are from Trend. It’s sooo colorful! The iPhone picture doesn’t do it justice.

I’ve also been wanting a way to recognize students who get a 100% on their weekly spelling test. I’ve looked for a beehive on and off for the past year or so but didn’t find anything. I finally found this Carson Dellosa beehive set. I put this in the hallway. Every student will have their name written on a cute bumblebee. If they get a 100% of better on their spelling test, I will hang their bee on the beehive in the hallway. I don’t know why I associate bees with spelling. Because of spelling bees I guess. 🙂

The students come back on August 8th. It is rapidly approaching1! How many of you have been working in your classrooms getting ready for the new year?

  1. Your bulletin board is adorable! I noticed that you have a 10 rainbow drawer rolling cart in your classroom. Does it work well? I have heard mixed reviews and am considering getting one for our classroom.

    1. I use mine as student cubbies since I have none in my classroom. My students used them but not heavily. They worked out fine. The drawers can be a little tricky and sometimes slip out but once the students knew how to use them and put them back in if they slipped it was fine and not a problem.

  2. I can’t wait to make it into my classroom. I think that I can get in beginning August 1st. I am looking forward to getting in & getting started!
