Ten Pin Linky Party – Math Idea Pins
I’m linking up with Just Reed’s Ten Pin Linky Party! This week’s theme is Math Idea pins. Below are ten ideas I’ve pinned recently that are awesome math ideas!

The image itself caught my eye. I have little blocks like those from Hobby Lobby. I thought writing numbers on them was a great idea to asses students’ ability to order and count numbers. You could do all sorts of things with those blocks! The actual pin is from Creekside Learning and the blog post contains other great ideas to use hands on materials for math practice.

I have not had a great deal of success with math journals in the past. I am determined to make them work for me this year! I’ve read about getting composition books cut in half before but I loved how cute these are with the adorable label! This blog post has the labels for free as well as math journal instructions for the inside.

Math Work Stations: Adding Numbers
What a neat idea to demonstrate adding! The blog post explains how it was made. I could see my students loving combining numbers this way!

This is actually just a pinned image and doesn’t link to a blog post. Boo! BUT going along with the math journal idea, I plan on including this page in my students’ journals this year! I think it’s a great way to make math relevant to students and help them realize that math is important and it’s all around!

Math Websites Broken Down by Skill
I’m always on the lookout for great new websites for my students to use during station times. This website has games broken down into subjects and skill! Great way to find games for independent practice or to use whole group on a SmartBoard!
I actually first pinned this sometime last year I think. I never got around to making these but I will this year! I love the idea of color coding the sticks and letting the students build the shapes. I pinned a similar pin where the sticks have Velcro dots on the corners so students can fasten them together easily. You could also put a rhinestone or something in the corners to emphasize the corners (vertices!)

Multiplication (or other Math Facts) Folder
This pin caught my eyes because of the colors! Truthfully, I usually pin things that “look” cute or colorful. This pin is an idea for a multiplication facts folder but I’d love to make addition and subtraction fact folders.
