Bucket Filling Linky Party!

I have been wanting to try Bucket Filling in my classroom for awhile. I even bought the cutest tye-dyed metal buckets from Target’s Dollar Spot! I’ve ran across many great websites with ideas about how to do Bucket Filling in the classroom. (I didn’t save all the links!) 🙁 So I need your help! If you have a great blog post about Bucket Filling or know some great websites that talk about Bucket Filling, please post them here! I can’t wait to check out what you guys find!

  1. We implemented bucket fillers into our school last year. Our principal started it with giving all faculty and staff a bucket, reading the story etc. We were given the chance to read a book with our kids and then pass it on to another class. We stored the little buckets in a mesh shoe holder. (we actually cut the shoe holder into 3rds so we could have our kids reach it and we could store it under our chalk board.) We had a different color bucket in one of the shoe holders so they could spot the bucket with the papers. We had the kids create their own name tags and we put it into clip badge holders as their bucket filler name tags. Hope some of this helps! If you have any questions, please let me know!

  2. I had seen the shoe holder idea somewhere and that’s exactly what I thought I would do with my buckets! The only main concern I have is with whether or not to have the kids write notes at the beginning of the year. I imagine the other students and myself won’t be able to read their writing very well at the beginning! I thought I might do the pom-pom idea and have kids fill their buckets with pom-poms and then add the note writing part in later. I’m not sure!

  3. I’m interested in learning about how other teachers use “bucket filling” as well. I’m teaching 1st grade for the first time next year and need some ideas. 🙂

  4. Thanks for doing this linky party. I wanted to start the bucket filling this next year and it will be nice to find all the info in one spot. 🙂

ps I LOVE the rainbow attendance page you made. I and totally using it next year!

pps I don’t know why it says I’m anonymous. I signed in, but it still refuses to show my name…

  5. I just ordered the bucket filling books from Amazon-I tired implementing bucket filling last year and I think I dropped the ball on it overall. We started off pretty good but then they would forget about it. I think I need to focus on it more so they remember it more too. I bought a shoe organizer and bought little buckets from Oriental Trading–They are a nice little size. I also used pom poms and had kids fill out a little slip for others. This year my goal is to really point out bucket filling and have kids get into the habit of it. I would have pictures but I moved classrooms and everything is still in boxes.
Here is a website I used when first starting…..

Good luck! Would love to pictures when you get it up and running!
