Friday Freebies! Christmas in July!

It’s Freebie Friday over at Teaching Blog Addict. I have not one, but TWO freebies for you lovely people. One goes along with the theme of “Christmas in July” that is fast approaching. I don’t know about you guys, but I love cute writing paper. I just can’t get enough of it! Freebie #1 is a packet of 20 different writing papers (5 styles, 4 versions of each style)! Two of the versions include a space at the top for an illustration and the other two are just strictly pages with writing lines and no space for an illustration. Your five different styles include gingerbread men, bells, holly sprigs, christmas lights, and a big red ribbon. A sample is shown below.

Freebie #2 is a great way to display your specials schedule for your students. In the beginning of the year (actually all through the year) kids will repeatedly ask me, “What special do we have today? Do we have computers today?” I know lots of teachers post up a daily schedule and a special class schedule but I got this idea from a teacher friend of mine. It’s worked wonders! I post this by the door and if the kids ask me what they have for specials, I tell them to go look at the schedule. The nice thing about it is that if my schedule changes the next year I just have to move the cards.
In the pictures above, I used clipart from Cute Colors. I created some new fresh cards featuring ThistleGirl graphics and am providing them as freebies for you along with some very vague (sorry!) directions about how to make this contraption. It’s really not that hard. I didn’t measure anything out though so I don’t have exact measurements. I just used colored printer paper to make the pockets for each day of the week. You might have to trim off a bit of the bottom off the cards if you make your pockets too shallow (not deep enough). Basically you print out the days of the week on colored paper. Laminate it. Print and laminate the cards. Fold the paper so that the day of the week is on a flap/pocket you create. Tape everything down with packing tape. Tape each day of the week together.
When I originally made mine I thought it would fall apart. But it didn’t! It helps if you fold the pockets and then place something heavy on top to flatten out that lamination stiffness. I hope this makes sense! If it doesn’t and you have questions, ask and I’ll try my best to help!
