Need help accessing the “treasure chest” freebies?

I thought I would take a minute or two and just type out a sort of tutorial about accessing my free resources for those who may need it. When you sign up for my newsletter, you will be sent an email that explains how to log in and access the resources, but if you’re the type of person who needs it to be broken down a bit more, then this is for you.

First, to access the Treasure Chest page, you must sign up for my newsletter. It’s FREE, I do not spam you, and send you one email every month where I tell you about that month’s new free resource.

After signing up, you will receive an email with a little more information.

To access the free resources (after signing up), you need to visit the Treasure Chest page. You can do this by either clicking the navigation at the top where it says Treasure Chest, by clicking the pirate banner at the top of my website (currently, it may not be there always) like shown below:

where to click

OR click the little pirate brain at the bottom left of my website. She looks like this:

She’s a Pirate….free “Treasure”….. that’s just me trying to be cute and fun. 😉

When you visit the Treasure Chest page and you will see this:

In the password box, you will enter the Treasure Chest PAGE password (which will be emailed to you). After typing it in, press enter.

After pressing enter, you will see this:

To the right, there will be a sidebar of information. The passwords are broken down into two sections: the Treasure Chest Passwords (shown above) and the Forever Freebie Passwords. Each of these sections list the resources by name and it’s corresponding password. When you login, there will be passwords where those gray boxes are. Passwords are not shown here. 😉 Treasure Chest Resources are the resources that will be available for FREE on my website for the duration of the 2017 – 2018 school year. At the end of that time, they will be converted to paid resources on TPT and/or my website. Forever Freebies are resources that will always remain for free on my website.

Scrolling further down there will be some information to read and then the resource downloads will be listed like this:

free resourcesFind the name of the resource you want to download. Look in the sidebar for the password to the resource, then type it into the box where it says: Enter Password to Download.

enter in password

You can see above how when you type the password in, it shows up as pink dots. If you click that little icon to the left of the Go button, it will display the text for you to see if you need to make sure you entered the password in correctly.

After pressing enter/go, one of a couple of things might happen. If you’re downloading something that is inside a ZIPPED folder or is an editable PowerPoint file, you will get a download popup like this:

Click the arrow beside Save and choose where to save the resource to your computer.

If the resource is a PDF file, the resource will open in your browser. Some files are large, and may take several seconds to even a few minutes to open depending on your browser and internet connection. It will look something like this:

When the PDF opens, the black bar you see at the top should appear. If it disappears, just hover over the top of your screen, or click in the blank space to get it to appear. Click on the save icon in the top right corner to download and save the resource to your computer.

That’s all there is to it. When I send out the newsletter at the beginning of the month, I will tell a little bit about what the free resource is, link to the blog post (which has more information about the resource as well as some previews) and also include the passwords (the one to access the Treasure Chest page (in case you’ve forgotten it!) and the one for the resource). Remember, all the resource passwords are listed in the sidebar though, so you do not have to memorize those or write them down.

Keep in mind, the resources are all being hosted here on my website are available to download through a plugin. In the event my server was having issues or you happened upon my site as I was updating something, you could experience a problem of some sort. I would first suggest trying to download again later. If you try later and have followed these steps and you still cannot get the resource to download, feel free to email me or contact me here and I am more than happy to help you!! It is most useful when you can provide some information such as what you’ve already done/tried to get the resource to download. I’m not a mind reader unfortunately, so please do let me know what trouble you’ve had, what the resource is, and where you are trying to download at (home, school, etc.) so I can better help.

I hope this helps you and that you can find a free resource to use with your class or homeschool kiddos. Do let me know if you need any help!
